Move Over NH

The State of New Hampshire is taking donations from private companies and private citizens in order to install “Move Over” signs on Route 101, Interstate 93, and Interstate 89, which currently have no posted signs.  These signs are to remind drivers to move over when they see emergency vehicles on the highway.  They would be similar to the signs posted on the Everett Turnpike, Route 16, and Interstate 95.  Checks can be made out to:

Treasurer of the State of NH

Move Over Law Signage

Account #401472

And the checks can be mailed to:

#MoveOverNH - We had 23 cruisers hit by passing motorist during the winter of 2015. We continue to have more close calls than we can count. Please share this photo so that we can avoid a repeat of 2015.

Under New Hampshire state law (265:37-a), When in or approaching an incident involving a fire, collision, disaster, or other emergency resulting in partial or complete blockage of a highway, or a location where a police officer has made a traffic stop, every driver other than the driver of an emergency response vehicle, shall:

I. Maintain a reduced speed.
II. Obey the directions of any authorized person directing traffic and of all applicable emergency signals and traffic control devices.
III. Vacate as soon as possible any lane wholly or partially blocked.
IV. Give a wide berth, without endangering oncoming traffic, to public safety personnel, any persons in the roadway, and stationary vehicles displaying blue, red, or amber emergency or warning lights.

Tow trucks and snow plows get hit just as much as us. Please, #GiveUsABrake
